Amnesty International says Israel carrying out “ethnic cleansing” campaign in West Bank

London, June 10 (SANA)Amnesty International said on Wednesday that Israel is carrying out a state-backed campaign of “ethnic cleansing” against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank aimed at accelerating the annexation of Palestinian land.

According toAFP, Amnesty’s report, Erasing Palestine: Israeli State-backed Ethnic Cleansing in theWest Bank, said Israeli authorities are advancing annexation through the forced displacement of Palestinian Bedouin and herding communities, particularly in Area C, which accounts for around 60 percent of the West Bank.

The report documented the displacement of 27 Palestinian communities between 2023 and 2025, while warning that other communities remain at risk. Amnesty said Israeli authorities have expanded settlement activity, increased support for settlers, and enabled violence and forced displacement affecting Palestinians.

The organization said the campaign is directed and supported by Israeli authorities and constitutes the crime against humanity of forcible transfer under international law.

Amnesty also noted that more than 500,000 Israelis live in settlements across the West Bank, excluding occupied East Jerusalem, alongside nearly three million Palestinians.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), settler violence has increased sharply since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023, reaching an average of six incidents per day in the West Bank in 2026.

Amnesty said Israeli policies violate obligations under international humanitarian law applicable to an occupying power.
