Syria Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (SOAI2026) Selects team to compete in Kazakhstan
Damascus, June 10 (SANA)The Syrian Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (SOAI2026) concluded its 2nd edition, organized by Syrian Computer Society, with the participation of Communications and Information Technology Minister,Abdul Salam Haykal, at the Syrian National Library inDamascus.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Minister Haykal said that the ministry is working to strengthen partnership in the field of artificial intelligence, stressing that this file is considered a top priority in cooperation with national partners.
Chairman of Syrian Computer Society Board, Sinan Hatahet, said that more than 800 students applied to participate in the Olympiad, with 440 selected for an advanced training stage.
This stage included over 100 hours of specialized training in programming, deep learning, computer vision, and natural language processing.
He added that the training culminated in the selection of a national elite team to represent Syria at theInternational Olympiad on Artificial Intelligencein Kazakhstan this year.
In the final, the Society announced the names of the winning national team during the ceremony, marking Syria’s official participation in the global competition.
