Interior y Policía lanza programa integral de seguridad ciudadana en Villas Agrícolas
Santo Domingo.- The Minister of the Interior and Police, Faride Raful, led this Thursday the launch event of the Comprehensive Intervention Program for Citizen Security, in Villas Agrícolas, a strategy that articulates the efforts of 40 other State institutions to strengthen peaceful coexistence, prevent violence and bring public services closer to the community.
As part of the initiative, the Villas Agrícolas Citizen Security Committee was formalized, a coordination space between residents, community leaders and public institutions aimed at identifying priorities, following up on commitments and promoting citizen participation in the construction of safer environments.
During the event, held at the Los Pioneros Cultural and Sports Club, Minister Raful highlighted that citizen security is a shared responsibility that requires the integration of the Government, communities and the private sector to respond effectively to the needs of each territory.
"The security of a territory is built between those who live, work and grow in it, together with the institutions called to accompany them. The State plays its role, the community exercises its role and the private sector is integrated to provide solutions. Citizen security is a shared responsibility," said the official.
Raful explained that the intervention is based on three fundamental axes: the strengthening of citizen coexistence, the recovery of the physical environment through improvements in lighting and video surveillance systems, and the increase in institutional presence through preventive patrolling and other proximity actions.
He specified that the program seeks to address security problems from their origin through actions focused on prevention, the recovery of public spaces, the improvement of the physical and environmental environment, and the strengthening of territorial control, with the purpose of reducing crime levels and promoting a culture of peace.
He said that Villas Agrícolas is the first sector where this strategy is implemented, which is part of a national plan that will be progressively extended to other prioritized territories in the country.
During the activity, an audiovisual was presented about the diagnosis and planning process that gave rise to the program, followed by a community tour by Minister Faride Raful to show the interventions planned in the sector.
During the tour, the minister visited two grocery stores in the town, as well as the Abriendo Camino Foundation and the Escuela España Educational Center, in the company of the authorities present.
The words of blessing were given by Deacon Ramón Estévez, from the Villas Agrícolas Parish, who asked for divine guidance for the success of the actions that will be developed for the benefit of the community.
Benjamin Lazala, coordinator of the Citizen Security Committee of Villas Agrícolas, spoke on behalf of the residents, expressing his gratitude for the implementation of the initiative and highlighted the hope generated in the community by the commitment assumed by the Ministry of the Interior and Police.
"This intervention represents an opportunity to transform our community through joint work between authorities and citizens. We are confident that this effort will contribute to improving the safety and quality of life of all residents," he said.
The event included the participation of government authorities, representatives of allied institutions, community leaders and residents of Villas Agrícolas, who supported the initiative aimed at building safer, more participatory and cohesive communities.
Among the personalities present were the Attorney General of the Republic, Yeni Berenice Reynoso; the Minister of Women, Gloria Reyes; Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, general director of the National Police; the Vice Minister of the Presidency, Andrés Madera, and the executive director of the National Emergency Response and Security System 9-1-1, Randolfo Rijo Gómez.
Also accompanying the minister were the vice ministers of the Interior and Police Chandrai Estévez, Carlos Ogando, Edwin Feliz, Antonio Palma, as well as departmental directors and representatives of the more than 40 institutions that make up this government strategy.

Precisó que el programa busca abordar los problemas de seguridad desde su origen mediante acciones enfocadas en laprevención, la recuperación de espacios públicos, la mejora del entorno físico y ambiental, y el fortalecimiento del control territorial, con el propósito dereducir los niveles de criminalidady promover una cultura de paz. Dijo que Villas Agrícolas es el primer sector donde se implementa esta estrategia, la cual forma parte de unplan nacionalque será extendido progresivamente aotros territorios priorizados del país. Durante la actividad, fue presentado un audiovisual sobre el proceso dediagnóstico y planificaciónque dio origen al programa, seguido de un recorrido comunitario de la ministra Faride Raful para mostrar las intervenciones previstas en el sector. Durante el recorrido, la ministra visitó dos colmados de la localidad, así como laFundación Abriendo Camino y el Centro Educativo Escuela España,en compañía de las autoridades presentes.
