INABIE mejora la sonrisa de casi 3,000 estudiantes de Boca Chica
Boca Chica.–The National Institute for Student Welfare (INABIE) expanded its network of school health services with the inauguration of a new dental module at the Emilio Prud’Homme Educational Center, in this municipality, an initiative that will bring specialized and preventive care to thousands of students in the area.
The new unit, corresponding to the 65th dental module installed by the institution nationwide, will offer coverage to more than 2,919 students from five educational centers, strengthening access to oral health services and reinforcing actions aimed at the comprehensive well-being of the student population.
Among the services available in the new module are dental prophylaxis or cleaning, application of fluoride, fluoride varnish, pit and fissure sealants, oral hygiene education, guidance on proper brushing techniques and other preventive actions aimed at promoting good oral health.
During the activity, representing the executive director of INABIE, Adolfo Pérez, the deputy director of that institution, Luis Valdez, highlighted the impact that these spaces have on the quality of life and academic performance of the students.
"When we bring health services to schools, we are not only addressing oral health; we are also protecting learning, strengthening self-esteem and contributing to the future of our students. Each oral module that we inaugurate represents an opportunity for thousands of boys, girls and young people to have access to dignified, quality care without leaving their communities," said Valdez.
The module is based at the Emilio Prud'Homme Educational Center, with an enrollment of 865 students. In addition, it will provide services to the Colombina Castro educational centers, with 644 students; Hilda Gutiérrez Polytechnic, with 500; Juan Pablo Duarte, with 755, and Juan Pablo II, with 155 students.
Educational community values initiative
Representatives of the educational community of Boca Chica thanked the Dominican Government and INABIE for putting this dental unit into operation, highlighting the benefits it will bring to students and families.
"This is a space that our school needed. Thanks to INABIE, our students will be able to receive timely dental care, favoring both their health and their academic performance," said Solanye Castro, director of the Emilio Prud'Homme Educational Center.
Likewise, Ronaldo Natera, father of a student at the center, highlighted the economic and social impact of the initiative. “This service represents great support for families, since it will allow us to monitor the oral health of our children without assuming additional expenses,” he said.
The module will operate from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 in the morning to 1:00 in the afternoon. Students at the headquarters center will be attended to in classrooms, while students from nearby educational centers will receive assistance through coordination between the directors of each campus and the medical staff.
This initiative is part of INABIE's strategic actions to strengthen school health and contribute to improving the conditions of the teaching-learning process in the Dominican Republic.
This space has specialized equipment, including a complete dental chair, dental air compressor, autoclave, cavitron, amalgamator and X-ray equipment, tools that will allow comprehensive care to be offered to students.
The director of Health and Nutrition, Luis Lizardo, also participated in the activity; the deputy director, Milly Pérez, and the person in charge of the Department of Student Participation and Services, Santo Gervasio Sánchez. Esta iniciativa forma parte de lasacciones estratégicas del INABIEpara fortalecer la salud escolar y contribuir a mejorar las condiciones del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje en la República Dominicana. Este espacio cuenta con equipos especializados, entre ellos un sillón odontológico completo, compresor de aire odontológico, autoclave, cavitrón, amalgamador y equipo de rayos X, herramientas que permitirán ofreceratención integral a los estudiantes.
