Syria, Qatar discuss renewing Azerbaijani gas grant, expanding cooperation
Damascus, June 12 (SANA)Syria and Qatar have discussed renewing a Qatari grant for the supply of Azerbaijani gas toSyriaand expanding development cooperation, the Energy Ministry said Friday.
Deputy Energy Minister for Oil Affairs Ghiath Diab met with a delegation from the Qatar Development Fund to review the project’s developmental and service impact, the ministry said on Telegram.
Diab highlighted the project’s positive results, stating that the support has improved the lives of approximately five million Syrians by increasing electricity supply hours in beneficiary areas, supporting vital services including schools, hospitals and government institutions, and reducing reliance on fuel oil and diesel while lowering operating costs.
Diab expressed Syria’s hope to renew the grant for two years and increase supply volumes to 4 million cubic meters to keep pace witheconomic recoveryand enhance the sustainability ofenergysupplies for productive sectors.
He thanked Qatar and the Qatar Development Fund, affirming Syria’s appreciation for cooperation that reflects the depth of fraternal ties between the two countries.
