A year ago Italy lost Carlo Legrottaglie, a servant of the State who fulfilled his duty until the last moment of his life. He was only a few days away from retirement after a long career in the Carabinieri. He fell while carrying out the job he had chosen to serve with honor and dedication, being shot during a chase. Today we remember him with gratitude, emotion and respect. As a policeman, as a father, as a man of the institutions. My thoughts go first and foremost to his family, his colleagues and all those who shared a piece of the road with him. Un anno fa l'Italia perdeva Carlo Legrottaglie, un servitore dello Stato che ha adempiuto al proprio dovere fino all'ultimo istante della sua vita. Lo separavano pochi giorni dalla pensione, dopo una lunga carriera nell'Arma dei Carabinieri. È caduto mentre svolgeva il lavoro che aveva scelto di servire con onore e dedizione, raggiunto da un colpo di pistola durante un inseguimento. Oggi lo ricordiamo con gratitudine, commozione e rispetto. Come carabiniere, come padre, come uomo delle istituzioni. Il mio pensiero va anzitutto alla sua famiglia, ai suoi colleghi e a tutti coloro che hanno condiviso con lui un pezzo di strada.
