CON UNA INVERSIÓN DE MÁS DE 5 MIL 186 MILLONES DE COLONES AVANZA: “CAMINO A JUEGOS NACIONALES”
San José, April 17, 2024. “Road to National Games” is an initiative of the Costa Rican Institute of Sports and Recreation (ICODER) that has had a resource injection of more than 5,186 million colones and is steadily preparing for the National Sports Games to be held in the province of Guanacaste in commemoration of the bicentennial of the annexation of the Nicoya District to Costa Rica.
The general budget of the National Sports Games exceeds 1,700 million colones to cover different needs and the proper development of the event in: food, ground transportation for athletes, administration and development of competitions, pre-hospital services, rental of sanitary cabins, purchase of materials and supplies (grooming, order, cleaning) and new mats.
Likewise, ICODER is making an additional investment of more than 218 million colones to make improvements to the sports facilities of the Abangares Sports Center, Santa Cruz Sports Center, Cacique Diría Stadium and Tilarán Athletics Track.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Public Education makes an investment of more than 3 billion 268 thousand colones that are aimed at improving classrooms, kitchens and some sports facilities for the good care of the athletes who will stay in these educational centers.
Generalities of the National Games
Royner Mora, Minister of Sports and Recreation, stated that "these Games are a window for high-level athletes. In each discipline you can see the fruits of the seeds planted by the Federations and the Cantonal Sports Committees that give the necessary tools for young people to project themselves in high-level competitive sports. In addition, the Games allow the injection of economic resources by ICODER to improve the sports structures where the athletes will participate, further projecting the sport in the communities."
The “Road to the National Games” initiative is a logistics and communication process that was designed to motivate athletes, coaches, federations and the general public for the sporting events, as well as to inform about the eliminatory processes and some news from each canton about the preparation of everything that the holding of the National Sports Games entails. Currently there are 18 thousand athletes in the qualifying stage for the National Games. Of these, 5,300 athletes will be participating in the 29 sports disciplines included in the 41st edition of the Games.
The venues for these sporting activities will take place in the cantons of Abangares, Cañas, Tilarán, Bagaces, Liberia, La Cruz, Carrillo, Santa Cruz, Nicoya, Hojancha and Nandayure. Sites that will have 20 educational centers, of which 6 will serve as shelters and spaces for competitions, and 14 that will be shelters to provide food and temporary accommodation to athletes.
The opening of the National Sports Games will take place on Saturday, June 29 at 6 pm at the Chorotega Stadium in Nicoya.
The National Games are the main program developed by the Government in the field of national sports.

San José, 17 de abril del 2024.“Camino a Juegos Nacionales”es una iniciativa del Instituto Costarricense del Deporte y la Recreación (ICODER) que ha tenido una inyección de recurso de más de 5 mil 186 millones de colones y va con paso firme en la preparación de los Juegos Deportivos Nacionales a desarrollarse en la provincia de Guanacaste en conmemoración del bicentenario de la anexión del Partido de Nicoya a Costa Rica. El presupuesto general de los Juegos Deportivos Nacionales supera los 1 700 millones de colones para cubrir diferentes necesidades y el buen desarrollo del evento en: alimentación, transporte terrestre para los atletas, administración y desarrollo de competencias, servicios prehospitalarios, alquiler de cabañas sanitarias, compra de materiales y suministros (aseo, orden, limpieza) y colchonetas nuevas. Asimismo, el ICODER está haciendo una inversión adicional de más de 218 millones de colones para realizar mejoras en las instalaciones deportivas del Polideportivo Abangares, Polideportivo Santa Cruz, estadio Cacique Diría y Pista Atletismo Tilarán. Por otra parte, el Ministerio de Educación Pública realiza una inversión superior a los 3 mil millones 268 mil colones que están dirigidos a la mejora de aulas, cocinas y algunas instalaciones deportivas para la buena atención de las personas atletas que se hospedarán en estos centros educativos. Generalidades de los Juegos Nacionales Royner Mora, ministro del Deporte y la Recreación, manifestó que “estos Juegos son una ventana de deportistas de alto nivel. En cada disciplina se podrán apreciar los frutos de las semillas plantadas por las Federaciones y los Comités Cantonales de Deportes que dan las herramientas necesarias para que los jóvenes se proyecten en el deporte competitivo de alto nivel. Además, los Juegos permiten la inyección de recurso económico por parte del ICODER para mejorar las estructuras deportivas donde participarán los atletas, proyectando aún más el deporte en las comunidades”. La iniciativa“Camino a Juegos Nacionales”es un proceso de logística y comunicación que se pensó para motivar a los atletas, entrenadores, federaciones y público en general de cara a las justas deportivas, así como para informar de los procesos eliminatorios y algunas noticias de cada cantón sobre la preparación de todo lo que implica la realización de los Juegos Deportivos Nacionales.Actualmente hay 18 mil atletas en etapa clasificatoria para los Juegos Nacionales. De estos, 5 300 atletas estarán participando en las 29 disciplinas deportivas que contempla la edición 41 de los Juegos. Las sedes de estas actividades deportivas se llevarán a cabo en los cantones de Abangares, Cañas, Tilarán, Bagaces, Liberia, La Cruz, Carrillo, Santa Cruz, Nicoya, Hojancha y Nandayure. Sitios que contarán con 20 centros educativos de los cuales 6 servirán como albergues y espacios para competencias, y 14 que serán albergues para brindar alimentación y alojamiento temporal a los atletas. La inauguración de los Juegos Deportivos Nacionales se llevará a cabo el sábado 29 de junio a las 6 pm en el Estadio Chorotega de Nicoya. Los Juegos Nacionales son el principal programa que desarrolla el Gobierno en el campo del deporte nacional.
