Zivildienst
Every year, people doing community service provide services for charitable institutions and thus strengthen our social and health system. They support people who are in emergency situations or who are dependent on outside help.
Ordinary community service lasts 9 months and must be completed in one piece. An assignment is possible up to your 35th birthday. Civil service is an alternative military service for reasons of conscience and applies to male Austrian citizens.
The Civil Service Service Agency, a federal agency that reports to the Federal Chancellery, is responsible for handling community service.

Zivildienstleistende erbringen jährlich Leistungen für gemeinnützige Einrichtungen und stärken damit unser Sozial- und Gesundheitssystem. Sie unterstützen Menschen, die sich in Notlagen befinden oder auf fremde Hilfe angewiesen sind. Der ordentliche Zivildienst dauert 9 Monate und ist in einem Stück zu leisten. Eine Zuweisung ist bis zum 35. Geburtstag möglich. Der Zivildienst ist ein Wehrersatzdienst aus Gewissensgründen und gilt für männliche österreichische Staatsbürger. Für die Abwicklung des Zivildienstes ist die Zivildienstserviceagentur zuständig, eine Bundesbehörde, die dem Bundeskanzleramt unterstellt ist. Abteilung JugendpolitikE-Mail:[email protected]
