Speech by President Javier Milei during his speech at the Inaugural Session of the Board of Peace, in Washington D.C.
Mr. President, distinguished members of the Board of Peace.
The new Argentina has adopted a clear position in foreign policy: we unwaveringly defend the right to life, liberty and property and its derived institutions, equality before the law, freedom of expression and free trade.
The defense of these rights is not negotiable, it is a prerequisite for peace. But not all international actors play by the same rules. There are those who reject these rights, trample them and benefit from what others respect.
Against them, good will is not enough. We need institutions with the will and capacity to enforce the rules. Lasting peace is not built on consensus that gives in fundamentally, it is built on the determination to defend it. Si vis pacem, para bellum.
Argentina participates in this Council with the conviction that peace requires political decision and an institutional architecture capable of sustaining real solutions over time.
President Trump has led by example by brokering the peace agreement in Gaza, an agreement that later ratified United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
The Peace Council was born as an expression of that leadership, with the mandate to execute a pacification and reconstruction plan and the mechanisms to do so, including an international stabilization force.
At this initial stage, Argentina is ready to contribute. We make available the collaboration of our White Helmets, our experience in peace operations is proven capital that we put at the service of the stabilization force.
We believe in diplomacy that takes risks to achieve peace, we believe in leadership that faces complex challenges with determination, like that of President Trump, and we believe that the only peace worth building is one that rests on the non-negotiable rights of man. The Peace Council offers a framework to move in that direction. Argentina supports it. Thank you so much.

La nueva Argentina ha adoptado una posición clara en política exterior: defendemos de forma inclaudicable el derecho a la vida, la libertad y la propiedad y sus instituciones derivadas, la igualdad ante la ley, la libertad de expresión y el libre comercio. La defensa de esos derechos no es negociable, es un pre requisito para la paz. Pero no todos los actores internacionales juegan con las mismas reglas. Hay quienes rechazan esos derechos, los pisotean y se benefician de lo que los demás respeten. Frente a ellos, la buena voluntad no alcanza. Necesitamos instituciones con voluntad y capacidad de hacer valer las reglas. La paz duradera no se construye sobre consensos que ceden en lo fundamental, se construye sobre la determinación de defenderlo. Si vis pacem, para bellum. La Argentina participa de este Consejo con la convicción de que la paz exige decisión política y una arquitectura institucional capaz de sostener soluciones reales en el tiempo. El Presidente Trump ha predicado con el ejemplo mediando el acuerdo de paz en Gaza, acuerdo que luego ratificó la Resolución 2803 del Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas. El Consejo de la Paz nace como expresión de ese liderazgo, con el mandato de ejecutar un plan de pacificación y reconstrucción y los mecanismos para hacerlo, entre ellos, una fuerza internacional de estabilización. En esta etapa inicial, Argentina está lista para contribuir. Ponemos a disposición la colaboración de nuestros Cascos Blancos, nuestra trayectoria en operaciones de paz es un capital probado que ponemos al servicio de la fuerza de estabilización. Creemos en una diplomacia que asume riesgos para alcanzar la paz, creemos en el liderazgo que enfrenta desafíos complejos con determinación, como el del Presidente Trump, y creemos que la única paz que vale la pena construir es la que descansa sobre los derechos innegociables del hombre. El Consejo de la Paz ofrece un marco para avanzar en esa dirección. La Argentina lo respalda. Muchas gracias.
