IMAS vuelve al campo para atender a poblaciones que más lo necesitan
The institution acquired vehicles to reach regions throughout the national territory, and thus serve populations in extreme poverty and basic poverty.
May 8, 2024. The Joint Institute for Social Assistance (IMAS) set the goal of returning to the countryside and reaching the regions to support populations in extreme poverty and basic poverty.
For this reason, the entity renewed its fleet with vehicles that will be used by local units to quickly and effectively serve those who need it most. These are 23 vehicles that will allow IMAS officials to reach different areas of the country, providing a more immediate response.
Yorleny León Marchena, Minister of Human Development and Social Inclusion and Executive President of IMAS, highlighted that the acquisition of these means of transportation is a tool so that people from different communities, and in particular, the most remote ones, can receive care from the institution.
"The IMAS must go out to the territories, because its obligation is not only to serve people in its offices, but to go where they are. We are going to develop more effective interventions in the regions and we will ensure that the resources are reaching precisely those who need them most," said the leader. "Regional areas such as Brunca, Chorotega, Huetar Norte and Huetar Caribe, among others, will benefit from these new vehicles. It should be noted that several of these are 4x4 pick-up types, which will allow "IMAS officials are allowed to enter rural areas where access is more difficult," León highlighted.
This action will also make it easier for officials to travel to different areas in emergency situations, which require immediate attention. Likewise, it will allow the implementation of the Intercultural Model for the provision of institutional services and benefits in indigenous territories, which began recently, to continue.

La institución adquirió vehículos para llegar a las regiones de todo el territorio nacional, y así atender a poblaciones en pobreza extrema y pobreza básica. 8 de mayo del 2024.El Instituto Mixto de Ayuda Social (IMAS) se trazó el objetivo de regresar al campo y llegar a las regiones para apoyar a poblaciones en pobreza extrema y pobreza básica. Por tal motivo, la entidad renovó su flotilla con vehículos que serán utilizados por las unidades locales para atender de forma rápida y efectiva a quienes más lo necesitan. Se trata de 23 vehículos que permitirán a las personas funcionarias del IMAS llegar a diferentes zonas del país, brindando una respuesta más inmediata. Yorleny León Marchena, Ministra de Desarrollo Humano e Inclusión Social y Presidenta Ejecutiva del IMAS, resaltó que la adquisición de estos medios de transporte es una herramienta para que las personas de diferentes comunidades, y en particular, las más alejadas, puedan recibir atención por parte de la institución. “El IMAS debe salir a los territorios, porque su obligación no es solo atender a personas en sus oficinas, sino en ir donde ellas están. Vamos a desarrollar intervenciones más efectivas en las regiones y fiscalizaremos que los recursos estén llegando precisamente a quienes más los necesiten”, señaló la jerarca.“Áreas regionales como la Brunca, Chorotega, Huetar Norte y Huetar Caribe, entre otras, se verán beneficiadas con estos nuevos vehículos. Cabe destacar que varios de estos son tipo pick up 4x4, lo que le permitirá al funcionariado del IMAS ingresar a zonas rurales donde el acceso es más difícil”, destacó León. Este accionar también facilitará a personas funcionarias el traslado a diferentes zonas en situaciones de emergencia, las cuales requieren una atención inmediata. Igualmente, permitirá seguir con la implementación del Modelo Intercultural para la prestación de servicios y beneficios institucionales en territorios indígenas, que inició recientemente.
