INA ofrecerá actualización a 2.400 pescadores y pescadoras para tripular embarcaciones

The INA, with the support of the Maritime Port Division of the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT), will undertake a marathon task to ensure that 2,415 fishermen renew their "safarrancho certificates", and thus be able to crew small, medium and advanced scale vessels in the national territory, legally and safely, according to the provisions issued by said ministry. This mandatory certificate certifies that vessel crew members are duly trained to deal with particular operational emergency situations that may arise on vessels. It must be updated every five years. In the country, thousands of people are dedicated to fishing and navigation activities, and a significant number of them have expired or expiring fishing certificates. Hence, the institution activated an unprecedented call so that, starting in June, four-hour workshops will be held in various locations throughout the national territory that will open the doors for these people to obtain the renewal of their certificates in record time. "In commitment to the maritime-fishing sector and the economic development of our country, the INA, together with the MOPT, is facilitating the renewal of essential certificates for the safe and legal operation of vessels. This initiative is designed with people who daily generate their income through fishing activities. With this, we promote the safety of the fishing sector, its economy and development," emphasized Juan Alfaro, Executive President of the INA. The training activities will be carried out, in person, in June, September and October, and will be free of charge for participants. The intention is to serve 1,200 people in June and another 1,245 starting in September. To facilitate registration, interested parties must appear at their convenient location 30 minutes before the start of the activity and provide their identity card and certificate or proof of an expired or soon-to-expire zafarrancho course. Este certificado obligatorio acredita que las personas tripulantes de embarcaciones se encuentran debidamente capacitadas para atender situaciones particulares de emergencia operacional que se puedan presentar en las embarcaciones. El mismo debe actualizarse cada cinco años. En el país, miles de personas se dedican a actividades de pesca y navegación, y de ellas una importante cantidad tiene el certificado de zafarrancho vencido o próximo a vencer. De ahí que la institución activó una convocatoria sin precedentes para que, a partir de junio, se desarrollen talleres de cuatro horas en varias localidades del territorio nacional que abrirán las puertas para que estas personas obtengan la renovación de sus certificados en un tiempo récord. "En compromiso con el sector marítimo-pesquero y el desarrollo económico de nuestro país, el INA, junto al MOPT, está facilitando la renovación de los certificados esenciales para la operación segura y legal de las embarcaciones. Esta iniciativa está diseñada pensando en las personas que diariamente generan sus ingresos a través de actividades pesqueras. Con esto, impulsamos la seguridad del sector pesquero, su economía y desarrollo", enfatizó Juan Alfaro, Presidente Ejecutivo del INA.Las actividades formativas se realizarán, de manera presencial, en junio, setiembre y octubre, y no tendrán costo para los participantes.
