Panamá está en el umbral del fútbol gracias a sus jugadores, afirma Mulino al entregar el pabellón nacional a la selección mayor

The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, presented the national flag to the player Erick Davis, one of the captains of the Senior National Soccer Team. The cast was received in the Yellow Room of the Las Garzas Palace, where the president highlighted the efforts of the players and the coaching staff to place Panama in the highest place in this sport, and represent us, starting in June, in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Qualifying for the second time in this tournament “is one of the best,” said Mulino. At the same time, he stated that the history of Panamanian sports and soccer will always remember this moment, when the name of Panama is represented by these players to whom, in his name and that of the Panamanian people, he expressed his full support to support them united from home.
“There is nothing more important at this moment on the national agenda than enjoying seeing them, transmitting that good vibe so that you can feel it in the different stadiums where they are going to carry the name of Panama very high and I am sure that they will also succeed,” Mulino highlighted.
He concluded his message by pointing out that, at present, our country is a soccer nation thanks to countless soccer players who paved the way that this team conquers today, achieving participation in a World Cup of this absolute category for the second time, after that first pass in Russia 2018.
"It is the second World Cup we have reached and that speaks very well of our team and the respect that you feel from the outside in for this tremendous nation; this is transcendental and here you have a town closed to the band with the red shirt," he concluded.
In the recognition ceremony, President Mulino gave coach Thomas Christiansen the Panamanian national passport, while midfielder Edgar Yoel Bárcenas, representing the players, presented the president with an official team shirt.
The event was attended by the Minister of the Presidency, Juan Carlos Orillac; the director of Pandeportes, Miguel Ordóñez; the president of the Panamanian Football Federation, Manuel Arias, as well as the coaching staff, official delegation, national authorities and special guests.

El elenco fue recibido en el Salón Amarillo del Palacio de Las Garzas, donde el mandatario destacó el esfuerzo de los jugadores y del cuerpo técnico para colocar a Panamá en el sitial más alto de este deporte, y representarnos, a partir de junio, en el Mundial de la FIFA 2026. Clasificar por segunda vez a este torneo “es de los mejores”, dijo Mulino. A la vez, afirmó que la historia del deporte y del fútbol panameño recordará siempre este momento, cuando el nombre de Panamá sea representado por estos jugadores a quienes, en su nombre y en el del pueblo panameño, expresó su total respaldo para apoyarlos unidos desde casa. “No hay nada más importante en este momento en la agenda nacional que disfrutar verlos, transmitir esa buena vibra para que ustedes la sientan en los distintos estadios donde van a llevar el nombre de Panamá muy en alto y estoy seguro de que a triunfar también”, resaltó Mulino. Finalizó su mensaje señalando que, en el presente, nuestro país es una nación futbolera gracias a un sinnúmero de futbolistas que abrieron el camino que hoy conquista esta selección, logrando la participación en un mundial de esta categoría absoluta por segunda ocasión, luego de ese primer pase en Rusia 2018. “Es el segundo mundial al que llegamos y eso habla muy bien de nuestro equipo y del respeto que ustedes hacen sentir de afuera hacia adentro por esta tremenda nación; esto es trascendental y aquí tienen un pueblo cerrado a la banda con la camiseta de rojo”, concluyó. En el acto de reconocimiento, el presidente Mulino entregó al seleccionador Thomas Christiansen el pasaporte nacional panameño, mientras que el mediocampista Edgar Yoel Bárcenas, en representación de los jugadores, obsequió al presidente una camiseta oficial de la selección. Al evento asistieron el ministro de la Presidencia, Juan Carlos Orillac; el director de Pandeportes, Miguel Ordóñez; el presidente de la Federación Panameña de Fútbol, Manuel Arias, así como cuerpo técnico, delegación oficial, autoridades nacionales e invitados especiales.
