Edesur activa plan de contingencia para la temporada ciclónica 2026
Santo Domingo.- Edesur Dominicana activated its contingency plan for the 2026 cyclonic season, with the aim of strengthening its response capacity and restoring electrical service in the shortest possible time, in the event that an atmospheric phenomenon affects its electrical networks.
The company contemplates preventive, operational and recovery actions to be executed before, during and after any meteorological event, in order to avoid accidents, minimize damage to electrical infrastructure and facilitate system recovery.
The plan includes the activation of committees and emergency work centers, communication protocols, strategic distribution of technical brigades and resources, security measures for staff and contractors, as well as inter-institutional coordination and customer service.
Likewise, priority will be given to restoring service in circuits that supply national security centers, hospitals, aqueducts, State institutions and official shelters, with the purpose of guaranteeing the continuity of essential services to the population.
The contingency plan covers urban, rural and coastal areas within the company's concession area, including regions vulnerable to flooding and landslides.
The hurricane season for the North Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico began on June 1 and will extend until November 30.
With the preventive measures, operational procedures and response strategies established in the event of emergencies, Edesur Dominicana seeks to protect the company's people and assets, minimize response times, reduce impacts on the electrical distribution infrastructure and ensure coordinated action that contributes to the efficiency and continuity of the service.

La temporada ciclónica para el Atlántico Norte, el mar Caribe y el golfo de Méxicoinició el primero de junio y se extenderá hasta el 30 de noviembre.
