Passation de service au Ministère des Affaires étrangères : Une nouvelle dynamique pour la diplomatie béninoise
On the morning of Tuesday, May 26, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the official handover ceremony between the outgoing Minister, Mr. Olushegun ADJADI BAKARI, and the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Corinne AMORI BRUNET, recently appointed to the Government of the President of the Republic, Romuald WADAGNI. This solemn, sober ceremony brought together the Ambassadors of Benin accredited in the different countries, the members of Public Administration and the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This ritual marks an important step in the continuity of Beninese diplomatic action and in the implementation of the vision of the new executive power. In his intervention, the outgoing minister expressed his gratitude to the Head of State, Mr. Patrice TALON, for the trust placed in him during his mandate at the head of Beninese diplomacy. He praised the commitment and professionalism of the ministry's executives, while highlighting the progress recorded in recent years in strengthening Benin's bilateral and multilateral relations, promoting the country's image internationally as well as consolidating cooperation with foreign partners. Officially taking charge of the ministerial department, Mrs. Corinne Amori BRUNET paid tribute to the work accomplished by her predecessor before reaffirming her determination to continue the reforms initiated. The new minister underlined the importance of a proactive, modern diplomacy geared towards the strategic interests of Benin, in a constantly changing international context. Madam Corinne Amori BRUNET also insisted on the need to strengthen Benin's influence on the international scene, to further promote economic diplomacy and to consolidate cooperation links with partner countries and international organizations. To this end, she called on all agents and executives of the ministry to unity, rigor and a sense of duty in order to effectively meet the challenges ahead. Through this handover, the Government of President Romuald WADAGNI reaffirms its desire to place Beninese diplomatic action in a dynamic of continuity, innovation and efficiency in the service of national development and the influence of Benin in the concert of Nations.
