UAE president, U.S. envoy discuss Middle East tensions and maritime security

Abu Dhabi, June 11 (SANA)UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met U.S. Ambassador to the United NationsMike Waltzon Thursday to discuss developments in the Middle East and their impact on regional and international security.

According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the two sides reviewed issues of mutual interest, focusing on the latest developments in the region and their implications for stability, international maritime security and the global economy.

The meeting also addressed the strategic relationship between theUnited Arab Emiratesand the United States and ways to strengthen cooperation across various fields in support of their shared interests.

The talks came amid renewed escalation in the U.S.-Israeli-Iranian conflict following a series of U.S. strikes on Iranian military and air defense targets.

Iransubsequently expanded its military operations, launching attacks targeting U.S bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, prompting several countries in the region to raise their alert levels and adopt exceptional security measures.

The escalation has heightened concerns over regional stability, international shipping routes and global energy supplies.F.J./ABD
