Research, technology and innovation (RTI) are at the center of an Austrian location policy that is future-oriented and designed to be competition and innovation-friendly.
Austria as a location for innovation has shown dynamic development in recent years. The Federal Government's RTI Strategy 2030 sets out the main goals and areas of action for RTI policy for the coming decade.
The fields of action intertwine and work together. Individual fields of action therefore also contribute to the achievement of several goals.
The goals and areas of action of the RTI strategy are operationalized through the RTI Pact. After the RTI pacts for 2021-2023 and 2024-2026, the federal government has now decided on the one for the years 2027-2029. It contains strategic priorities and measures to achieve goals.

Forschung, Technologie und Innovation (FTI) stehen im Zentrum einer österreichischen Standortpolitik, die zukunftsorientiert sowie wettbewerbs- und innovationsfreundlich gestaltet ist. Der Innovationsstandort Österreich wies in den vergangenen Jahren eine dynamische Entwicklung auf. In der FTI-Strategie 2030 der Bundesregierung wurden die wesentlichen Ziele und Handlungsfelder der FTI-Politik für das kommende Jahrzehnt festgelegt. Die Handlungsfelder greifen ineinander und wirken zusammen. Einzelne Handlungsfelder tragen daher auch zur Erreichung mehrerer Ziele bei. Ziele und Handlungsfelder der FTI-Strategie werden durch den FTI-Pakt operationalisiert. Die Bundesregierung hat nach den FTI-Pakten für 2021-2023 und 2024-2026 nun jenen für die Jahre 2027-2029 beschlossen. Er enthält strategische Schwerpunkte und Maßnahmen zur Zielerreichung.
