The Presidencies Hold a Meeting to Discuss Domestic and Regional Developments …….. Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi attended a meeting of the Presidencies, which included President of the Republic Nizar Mohammed Saeed Amidi, Speaker of the Council of Representatives Haibat al-Halbousi, and President of the Supreme Judicial Council Faeq Zaidan. The meeting discussed the overall situation in the country, recent political, security, and economic developments, as well as developments in the region. They stressed the importance of expediting the completion of the Council of Ministers formation in a manner that enhances government performance and strengthens the capacity of executive institutions to implement the ministerial program and achieve its objectives. They also emphasized the need to continue supporting and reinforcing the government’s efforts and measures in implementing its program and development plans, taking the necessary steps to meet citizens’ needs, improve living conditions, and enhance the delivery of basic services across all provinces. The Presidencies affirmed the importance of passing the necessary legislation and amending and strengthening investment laws in a manner that supports government performance, develops state institutions, advances development and reform efforts, and serves the public interest. The Presidencies renewed their commitment to the principle of restricting arms to the state authority as a fundamental pillar of the rule of law and state authority. They commended the national positions and steps taken by entities and groups that have announced the severance of their affiliation with the Popular Mobilization Commission, in accordance with the Constitution, the law, and the requirements of state-building. They also affirmed that security and military decisions must remain exclusively under the authority of the Iraqi state and its constitutional institutions, under the command of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, in a manner that enhances security and stability and preserves the country’s unity, sovereignty, and independent national decision-making. The meeting further stressed the importance of the judiciary’s role in enforcing the law and holding accountable anyone who infringes upon public funds or state institutions, or threatens national security, in a manner that protects the constitutional order, safeguards citizens’ rights, and reinforces justice and the rule of law. On economic and financial matters, the participants emphasized the importance of strengthening financial stability, supporting the national economy, and diversifying sources of income through the development of productive, industrial, agricultural, and tourism sectors, encouraging domestic and foreign investment, and supporting the private sector and enabling it to play its role in economic development. They also reaffirmed support for the government’s efforts and measures aimed at implementing economic reform programs and achieving sustainable development. With regard to regional and international developments, the Presidencies reaffirmed Iraq’s firm position calling for an immediate end to the war, the cessation of all forms of escalation and tension in the region, and the resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy. They stressed that the continuation of conflicts threatens the security and stability of the peoples of the region and negatively affects the global economy, energy security, and international trade. They reaffirmed Iraq’s support for all efforts aimed at promoting security, stability, and peace, and rejected the use of Iraqi territory to launch attacks against any country or undermine the security and stability of countries in the region.
