Today (11) in the morning at the President's Office, I joined a discussion to investigate the possible impact of the upcoming El-Nino situation and the plans of the institutions to deal with it. I also instructed the officials to thoroughly examine the possible El-Nino situation on the food security, drinking water and energy sectors of the country and the urgent steps to be taken to manage these sectors and prepare and submit related plans. I pointed out here the ability to manage this global situation, which is an external challenge, just as we faced the challenges that arose in the wake of the Ditwa cyclone and the military situation in the Middle East. I attended a discussion at the President's Office this morning (11) to examine the impact of the El-Nino situation that may occur in the future and the plans in place to deal with it. The impact of El Niño on the food security, drinking water and energy sectors of the country and the urgent measures to be taken to manage these sectors have been analyzed in detail here and I have advised the officials to prepare and submit the corresponding plans. I pointed out that this global situation of external challenges can be managed and any situation that may arise can be faced through proper plans and actions, just like the challenges faced during Tidwa Cyclone and Middle East war situations. Attended a discussion at the Presidential Secretariat this morning (11) to review the potential impacts of the anticipated El Niño phenomenon and the preparedness plans of relevant institutions to address its effects. During the meeting, extensive attention was given to the possible impact of El Niño on the country's food security, drinking water supply and energy sector, as well as the immediate measures required to effectively manage these areas. Also instructed officials to prepare and submit the necessary plans to mitigate any adverse effects and ensure the continued stability of these critical sectors. Further noted that, just as Sri Lanka successfully managed the challenges arising from Cyclone Ditwah and the conflict situation in the Middle East, the country possesses the capacity to effectively address this global challenge as well. Also emphasized that through proper planning and timely implementation, Sri Lanka would be well prepared to respond to any situation that may arise.
