The President of the Republic, José Antonio Kast, made a historic visit to the Environmental Assessment Service (SEA), in the company of the Minister of the Environment, Francisca Toledo, to thank its authorities and officials for their agility and efficiency in approving environmental projects that generate investment and employment for thousands of Chileans. It is the first time in the 29 years of service that it has been visited by a President, who met with the officials and visited the offices. Since President Kast took office on March 11, the SEA has approved 72 projects for a total of US$16 billion, with a projection of up to 46,300 jobs during their execution. In addition, last May the Environmental Assessment Commissions and the Executive Directorate of the SEA approved projects for US$13,962 million, becoming the month with the highest approved investment amount since system records exist. Among the approved initiatives are Maritime Waters in the Antofagasta Region, the Outer Port of San Antonio, Line 8 of the Santiago Metro and various renewable energy and energy storage projects. In addition, Minister Toledo explained that during the first three months of the administration of President José Antonio Kast, 75 projects for US$22,819 million entered the Environmental Assessment System. This amount of investment far exceeds those recorded at the beginning of the three previous administrations. The executive director of the SEA, Arturo Farías, stated that the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA) maintains 379 projects at the national level under evaluation, equivalent to an investment of more than US$91 billion. The regions that concentrate the largest amounts are Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica, with US$27,022 million, and Antofagasta, with US$26,844 million. The productive sectors with the greatest participation correspond to Energy and Mining, which together represent more than US$53 billion in initiatives under evaluation. Likewise, Farías highlighted the work carried out to expedite projects that remained pending administrative resolution. In less than 90 days, more than 50 projects that had claims before the Committee of Ministers or the Executive Directorate of the SEA have been unblocked, involving investments close to US$15 billion. In this context, the Committee of Ministers met on six occasions and reviewed 16 investment projects, allowing initiatives for more than US$6.9 billion to be unblocked. The Minister of the Environment also reported that upon completion of the 90 days of management, the pending administrative claims inherited at the beginning of the current administration will have been reviewed and concluded, with only one pending. Along with this, it was possible to reduce the times for issuing resolutions from an average of six months to only 15 days, strengthening regulatory certainty, institutional efficiency and the conditions to promote new investments and job creation in the country.

Es la primera vez en los 29 años del servicio que es visitado por un Mandatario, quien se reunió con los funcionarios y visitó las oficinas.Desde que asumió el Presidente Kast el 11 de marzo pasado, el SEA ha aprobado 72 proyectos por un total de US$16 mil millones-,con una proyección de hasta 46.300 puestos de trabajo durante su ejecución.A lo que se suma que durante mayo pasado las Comisiones de Evaluación Ambiental y la Dirección Ejecutiva del SEA aprobaron proyectos por US$13.962 millones, convirtiéndose en el mes con mayor monto de inversión aprobado desde que existen registros del sistema. Entre las iniciativas aprobadas destacan Aguas Marítimas en la Región de Antofagasta, el Puerto Exterior de San Antonio, la Línea 8 del Metro de Santiago y diversos proyectos de energía renovable y almacenamiento energético.Además, la ministra Toledo explicó que durante los primeros tres meses de la administración del Presidente José Antonio Kast, ingresaron al Sistema de Evaluación Ambiental 75 proyectos por US$22.819 millones.
