Panamá y Grecia firman convenios de turismo y consultas políticas, en el marco de la reunión Mulino- Mitsotakis

After meeting with the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantínos Tasoúlas, President José Raúl Mulino held a bilateral meeting this Tuesday with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis. At this meeting, topics of common interest were addressed to guarantee efficient trade, the evolution of democratic processes in Latin America, as well as issues related to the maritime sector and the shipping industry. Both leaders witnessed the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding: one for collaboration in tourism and another for the establishment of a mechanism for political consultations. Subsequently, an expanded meeting was held with the ministers of both States, at the Máximos Mansion. These two agreements were signed taking into consideration the good relations that exist between the Greek and Panamanian peoples, seeking to promote tourism development between both nations in both the public and private sectors. The tourism agreement seeks institutional cooperation, exchange of information and specialized knowledge, information on tourism promotion and investment, innovation and digitalization of tourism, education and professional training in this matter, cooperation within the framework of international organizations related to tourism, as well as any other area that may be mutually agreed upon in writing between the participants. This agreement will be valid for five years and may be automatically renewed for equal periods, unless either party notifies its intention to terminate it. For Panama, this agreement was signed by Gloria María de León, administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), while Olga Kefalogianni, Minister of Culture, signed for the Hellenic Republic. The second agreement was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama, Javier Martínez-Acha, and on behalf of the Greek Government, Giorgio Gerapetritis, Minister of Foreign Affairs. This collaboration agreement is given with the purpose of strengthening and consolidating existing bilateral relations and cooperation through the establishment of a mechanism for political consultations and activate different areas of cooperation between the two countries. It was agreed to hold periodic meetings seeking to examine the development of bilateral relations, exchanging opinions on regional and international issues of common interest. The consultations will be held alternately in Panama and Athens, and may also be held on the sidelines of conferences and meetings of international organizations, including the United Nations General Assembly. Accompanying President Mulino were: the ambassador and consul general of Panama in Greece, Julie Lymberopulos; the chancellor, Javier Martínez-Acha; Ministers José Ramón Icaza (Canal Affairs) and Julio Moltó (Commerce and Industries). In addition, the administrator of the ATP; Luis Roquebert, administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority; Salomón Shamah, general director of Tourism Promotion of Panama (PROMTUR); Rafael Bárdenas, director of Civil Aeronautics; Kristel Getzler, Secretary of Economic Affairs and Competitiveness; Alberto Vallarino, former Minister of Economy and Finance; and Alberto Alemán Zubieta, former administrator of the Panama Canal.

Posteriormente, se realizó una reunión ampliada con los ministros de ambos Estados, en la Mansión Máximos.Estos dos acuerdos fueron firmados tomando en consideración las buenas relaciones que existen entre los pueblos griego y panameño, buscando promover el desarrollo turístico entre ambas naciones tanto en el sector público como en el privado.El convenio turístico busca la cooperación institucional, intercambio de información y conocimientos especializados, información sobre promoción e inversión turística, innovación y digitalización del turismo, educación y formación profesional en esta materia, cooperación en el marco de organizaciones internacionales relacionadas con el turismo, así como cualquier otra área que pueda ser acordada, mutuamente, por escrito entre los participantes.Este acuerdo tendrá una vigencia de cinco años y podrá ser renovado automáticamente por períodos iguales, salvo que cualquiera de las partes notifique su intención de darlo por terminado.
