Pedernales.– As part of the actions promoted by the Dominican Government to strengthen citizen security and improve the response capacity of the National Police in the communities, the Provincial Development Directorate delivered a police station in the community of Mencía, Pedernales province.

The work was carried out by order of President Luis Abinader, with the purpose of continuing to strengthen the institutional presence and guarantee higher levels of security for the residents of that border area.

The infrastructure has three levels. On the first level there is a prison for men and women, a kitchen-dining room, an equipment storage room, an office for receiving complaints, a criminal investigation office, a waiting room and a ladies' dormitory with a bathroom. The second level houses men's sleeping quarters, administrative offices for the commander, assistant and day officer, as well as a meeting room. The third level is intended for a recreation area for rest and recreation of police personnel.

During the opening ceremony, Ángel de la Cruz, director of Provincial Development, highlighted that the station will contribute to improving the tranquility of the inhabitants and responding to the security needs that exist in the community.

Likewise, the director of the National Police, Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, was present, who highlighted the Government's efforts to strengthen the institution; improving the working conditions of police officers and guaranteeing greater closeness and attention to the population.

The activity included the participation of civil, military and police authorities of the province, as well as community representatives and local leaders.
