Gobierno lanza Consulta Nacional para el Futuro de la Educación Dominicana
Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Government formally launched this Thursday the National Consultation for the Future of Dominican Education, a broad, participatory and representative process, aimed at listening to the different sectors of society, on the education that the country needs to respond to the challenges of the present and the future.
The initiative responds to the presidential mandate established by Decree No. 309-26, which provides for the organization of a national consultation process to collect opinions, experiences, proposals and concerns about the Dominican educational system.
The head of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt), Rafael Santos Badía, highlighted that the Consultation represents an opportunity to articulate the different levels and modalities of the educational system, strengthen the relevance of training and respond to new social, scientific, technological and labor demands.
Santos Badía pointed out that the initiative has been received with wide reception and positive evaluation by the different sectors linked to the national educational system. He said that the country now has a historic opportunity to strengthen the educational system and that this process will be based on dialogue, participation and consensus.
“We have the need to adapt the school, the training of teachers and the learning processes to the demands of a generation that develops in an increasingly dynamic, globalized and technological environment,” he maintained.
Likewise, the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, stated that this process will allow listening to the country and collecting contributions from students, teachers, families, educational institutions, productive sectors, social organizations, specialists and Dominicans residing abroad.

Dominican, constitutes, more than a cycle of meetings, a great open conversation to build a new educational model that responds to the challenges of the present.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Labor, Eddy Olivares, welcomed the initiative to appoint a high-level commission to compile the opinions of society and make a law that transforms education and makes it a fundamental pillar for the training of citizens in accordance with the demands of the 21st century labor market.
“I consider this decision very hopeful and I trust in the good work that these institutions will do so that we have a law that places us in the transformation of education,” said Olivares.
The Minister of Public Administration, Sigmund Freund, who participated in the event virtually, announced that next week a consultation process will begin throughout the country, through which all sectors interested in transforming education will be heard.
"As the Ministry of Public Administration we will be integrated, working on this process so that, in the end, we can have a regulatory instrument for a better educational system, as well as the strengthening of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and in all training aspects," he said.
The general director of Infotep, Maira Morla Pineda, in a remote intervention, called on businessmen, workers, teachers, students, communicators and all citizens to actively participate in this consultation, because, “every contribution counts, every experience adds up, every proposal can contribute to building better opportunities for present and future generations.”
Morla Pineda reaffirmed the commitment to work with the Executive Commission for the Educational Transformation of the Dominican Republic, which was created to design a more comprehensive educational system model.
"This will be a participatory process that will allow everyone to build the education that the present demands and the future of the country needs. Infotep feels honored to be part of this initiative," he indicated.
The launch event was led by authorities from Minerd, Mescyt, MAP and Infotep, institutions that work together in the organization and development of this national process.
The meeting was also attended by renowned personalities from different areas of Dominican society, including representatives of the educational, academic, business, technical-professional, social, religious and community sectors, as well as national and local authorities.
The National Consultation for the Future of Dominican Education will be aimed at students, teachers, families, educational institutions, representatives of the technical-professional sector, productive sector, civil society, churches, community organizations, local authorities, specialists, young people and Dominicans residing abroad.
The contributions collected will help guide future decisions in educational matters and promote a more relevant, inclusive, articulated and connected education with the aspirations of the Dominican Republic.
After the launch event, regional, sectoral forums and other participation spaces will be held, scheduled to culminate next July.
With this National Consultation, the Government reaffirms its commitment to listen to the country and promote a broad, plural and constructive dialogue on the future of Dominican education, recognizing that transforming education is a collective task and of high national interest.

Entre tanto, el ministro de Trabajo, Eddy Olivares, saludó la iniciativa de designar unacomisión de alto nivelpara recopilar el criterio de la sociedad y hacer una ley que transforme la educación y que sea unpilar fundamentalpara la formación de ciudadanos de acuerdo con lasexigencias del mercado laboral del siglo XXI. “Considero muy esperanzadora esta decisión y confío en el buen trabajo que harán estas instituciones para que tengamos una ley que nos coloque en la transformación de la educación”,afirmó Olivares. La Consulta Nacional para el Futuro de la Educación Dominicana estará dirigida a estudiantes, docentes, familias, instituciones educativas, representantes del sector técnico-profesional, sector productivo, sociedad civil, iglesias, organizaciones comunitarias, autoridades locales, especialistas, jóvenes y dominicanos residentes en el exterior. Los aportes recogidos contribuirán a orientar las próximas decisiones en materia educativa y a impulsar una educaciónmás pertinente, inclusiva, articulada y conectadacon las aspiraciones de la República Dominicana. Luego del acto de lanzamiento, se desarrollarán foros regionales, sectoriales y otros espacios de participación, previstos para culminar en elpróximo mes de julio. Con esta Consulta Nacional, el Gobierno reafirma su compromiso de escuchar al país y promover undiálogo amplio, plural y constructivosobre el futuro de la educación dominicana, reconociendo que transformar la educación es una tarea colectiva yde alto interés nacional.
