Presidente Abinader entrega el Hospital Municipal de Maimón remozado, ampliado y equipado con nueva área de Emergencia, junto con el Centro de Primer Nivel
Maimón, Monsignor Nouel.-President Luis Abinader delivered this Thursday the completely renovated, expanded and equipped Maimón Municipal Hospital, the incorporation of a modern Emergency area; as well as the First Level Center (CPN) of this town, strengthening the response capacity of the health system and guaranteeing residents access to more modern, timely and close health services to their homes.
The work represents an important step to guarantee more timely and efficient medical care, especially in emergency situations, with new medical equipment that will allow expanding and improving the services offered to the population.
During the event, President Abinader announced that the Pedro Emilio de Marchena Hospital, in Bonao, will soon have hemodialysis and oncology services, as part of the network promoted by the Government to bring these specialized treatments closer to the population and prevent patients from having to travel to Santo Domingo to receive care.
Likewise, he reported that he hopes to return to Maimón in approximately two and a half months to inaugurate three works of great importance for the community: the La Leonora bridge, the Center for Comprehensive Early Childhood Care (Caipi) and the new electrical transformer station, an infrastructure designed to eliminate the overloads that for years have affected the municipality's energy service.
The president explained that the transformer is already in the town and that the civil works necessary for its installation are currently being built, which will stabilize the electricity supply and improve the quality of life of the residents.
Likewise, he announced that the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed) will carry out an evaluation of the San Isidro Labrador Parish with the purpose of evaluating it and carrying out the repair work required by the infrastructure.
Finally, the head of state urged the community and health personnel to take care of and preserve the facilities of the Maimón Municipal Hospital and organize volunteers that contribute to its care and preservation, to guarantee the good maintenance of its facilities and equipment, highlighting that the work will provide higher quality care to patients in the municipality and nearby communities.
Transformation of the public health network: one of the main achievements of President Abinader's administration
For his part, the executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Julio César Landrón, highlighted that the transformation of the public health network has been one of the main achievements of President Luis Abinader's management, noting that when they took over the administration in 2020 they found more than 180 hospitals in deteriorating conditions and with great operational limitations.
Landrón stated that, thanks to the boost given by the president to the health sector, the public network currently has more than 210 hospitals and that, with the delivery of the Maimón Municipal Hospital, there are 112 renovated hospitals throughout the national territory. "President Luis Abinader had to arrive so that today we can proudly say that the health sector is grateful, because you have embodied the true change promised six years ago. That is the sign that at the national level the change is noticed and felt."
Likewise, he highlighted that, by instructions of President Abinader, the expansion of the Pedro Emilio de Marchena Provincial Hospital, in Monseñor Nouel, is in process, a project that includes more than 20 new beds, as well as the expansion of the Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency area, with the aim of strengthening the response capacity of the hospital center.
The official maintained that these are “tangible and palpable investments” that demonstrate the Government's commitment to the health of the population and assured that progress will continue with concrete facts that citizens can see and feel throughout the country.
He also compared the situation found in 2020 with the current reality of public hospitals. He explained that many centers were considered “bottomless barrels” as they lacked the resources to even carry out basic repairs.
In contrast, he highlighted that transparency in the management of public funds, the regulations promoted by President Abinader and more efficient management have allowed the financial sustainability of health centers to be strengthened. “Due to the transparency with which this sector is managed, due to the regulations that the president has guaranteed in all public management and because the chelitos are now performing, this hospital is number 188 with zero debt.”
The director of the SNS also highlighted the inclusion policies promoted by the Government, recalling that, without distinction of political flags or religious creeds, millions of Dominicans were incorporated into the subsidized National Health Insurance (Senasa) since the beginning of the administration. “This is investing in people, this is thinking about people.”
Finally, he indicated that the Maimón Municipal Hospital has the necessary equipment and conditions to perform orthopedic surgeries, general surgeries and gynecological procedures, allowing patients to receive specialized care in their own community, without having to travel to Bonao or Santo Domingo.
Meanwhile, the governor of Monseñor Nouel, Adela Tejada, stated that the intervention of the Maimón Municipal Hospital is a work that was born from the desire of a community that for years waited, asked and insisted to have a modern, equipped and dignified health center, while stating that today the province can say with joy and gratitude that the wait was not in vain.
On behalf of Monsignor Nouel, he thanked President Luis Abinader for listening to the community's clamor and turning into reality a need that remained pending for years, by ensuring that Maimón receives a renovated hospital and, at the same time, the confirmation that he has found a government that has listened to him.
Likewise, the senator of the Monsignor Nouel province, Héctor Acosta, thanked President Abinader for making a work a reality that, according to him, the community had been waiting for decades.
He stressed that many doubted that the project could come to fruition, but that today it is a reality for the benefit of the inhabitants of Maimón, which is why he urged the doctors, nurses and the staff who will work at the center to take care of the facilities and provide a service characterized by the love, patience and human attention that the patients deserve. “We have a president that history will remember forever and ever.”

Esa es la muestra de que a nivel nacional el cambio se nota y se siente”. Asimismo, resaltó que, por instrucciones del presidente Abinader, se encuentra en proceso la ampliación delHospital Provincial Pedro Emilio de Marchena, en Monseñor Nouel, proyecto que contemplamás de 20 nuevas camas, así como la expansión de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos y del área de Emergencia, con el objetivo de fortalecer lacapacidad de respuestadel centro hospitalario.
