Gobierno garantiza continuidad del servicio de ferry en Puntarenas
The ferry service in Puntarenas is essential for attracting tourism, generating employment and economic reactivation, which is why this Wednesday, the Minister of the Presidency, Laura Fernández Delgado, held an important meeting with different Government institutions to guarantee the provision of the service. “We inform the population of Puntarenas and in general that in view of the great need to dredge the ferry terminal in Puntarenas, a series of measures will be carried out by the MOPT and JAPDEVA, working as a team for the benefit of all people,” stated Laura Fernández Delgado, Minister of the Presidency. The Government will begin dredging work as soon as possible to guarantee the transportation of ferry users. This will be done through an agreement between JAPDEVA and the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT) for the loan of the long-arm dredge. “The Government's commitment is to maintain the ferry line without affecting the users of the Gulf of Nicoya and Puntarenas,” said Mauricio Batalla, Minister of Public Works and Transportation. In addition, the MOPT will initiate a tender for the contracting of dredging at the ferry terminal, in order to carry out major dredging during the first quarter of 2025, for an amount of 218 million colones. “From the Caribbean we are pleased to work as a team for the continuity of the Puntarenas ferry service,” said Sucy Wing, Executive President of JAPDEVA.

El servicio del ferry en Puntarenas es fundamental para la atracción de turismo, generación de empleo y reactivación económica, por lo que este miércoles, la Ministra de la Presidencia, Laura Fernández Delgado, sostuvo una importante reunión con diferentes instituciones del Gobierno para garantizar la prestación del servicio. “Le comunicamos a la población puntarenense y en general, que en vista de la gran necesidad de dragar la terminal del ferry en Puntarenas, se realizarán una serie de medidas por parte del MOPT y JAPDEVA, trabajando en equipo para el beneficio de todas las personas”, afirmó Laura Fernández Delgado, Ministra de la Presidencia. El Gobierno iniciará a la mayor brevedad los trabajos de dragado para garantizar el transporte de usuarios del ferry, esto se realizará por medio de un convenio entre JAPDEVA y el Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes (MOPT) para el préstamo de la draga de brazo largo. “El compromiso del Gobierno es mantener la línea del ferry sin afectación para los usuarios del Golfo de Nicoya y Puntarenas”, afirmó Mauricio Batalla, Ministro de Obras Públicas y Transportes. Además, el MOPT iniciará una licitación para la contratación del dragado en la terminal del ferry, con el fin de realizar un dragado mayor durante el primer trimestre del 2025, por un monto de 218 millones de colones. “Desde el Caribe nos complace trabajar en equipo para la continuidad del servicio del ferry puntarenense”, dijo Sucy Wing, Presidenta Ejecutiva de JAPDEVA.
