Ministère du Cadre de Vie et des transports, chargé du Développement Durable : Georges ALE prend le témoin à José TONATO pour aller plus loin
The Ministerial City of Cotonou served as the setting, on Tuesday May 26, 2026, for the official handover ceremony at the Ministry of Living Environment and Transport, in charge of Sustainable Development. On this occasion, Minister José TONATO officially transmitted the responsibilities of this ministerial department to Mr. Georges ALE, now called upon to lead public policies linked to the living environment and sustainable development in Benin. The ceremony, full of solemnity and emotion, took place in the presence of public administration executives, political-administrative authorities, technical and institutional partners of the ministry, parents and loved ones. Over the last ten years, the living environment and transport sector has been at the heart of the transformation of the national territory with an unprecedented investment of more than 3,000 billion FCFA. At the end of these 10 years, the time has come for Minister José TONATO to pass the baton to the new Minister Georges ALE. In his speech, the outgoing Minister, Mr José TONATO, expressed his gratitude to President Patrice TALON and to all the collaborators who accompanied him throughout his stay at the head of the said ministry. He also took stock of the reforms and projects undertaken during his republican mission in this department, particularly in the areas of urban sanitation, environmental management, land use planning and improving the living environment of the populations: “I am proud to affirm that today, the concept of the living environment has become a Beninese label. We have a duty to protect it, to perfect it,” said José TONATO. The outgoing Minister praised the efforts of the technical and administrative teams of the Ministry, while inviting his successor to continue the structuring projects undertaken for the sustainable development of the country. Officially taking office, Mr. Georges ALE paid tribute to the work accomplished by his predecessor and reaffirmed his desire to continue the dynamic of modernization and transformation of the sector. He insisted on the need to consolidate achievements, strengthen environmental actions and promote sustainable policies for future generations. The new Minister also called for a collective mobilization of executives and agents of the ministry in order to meet the challenges linked to urbanization, environmental protection and adaptation to climate change. The ceremony ended with the signing of the administrative handover documents and a family photo bringing together the different personalities present.

La Cité ministérielle de Cotonou a servi de cadre, le mardi 26 mai 2026, à la cérémonie officielle de passation de service au Ministère du Cadre de Vie, et des transports, en charge du Développement Durable. À cette occasion, le Ministre José TONATO a officiellement transmis les charges de ce département ministériel à Monsieur Georges ALE, désormais appelé à conduire les politiques publiques liées au cadre de vie et au développement durable au Bénin. Au bout de ces 10 années, il est arrivé le moment pour le Ministre José TONATO de passer le témoin au nouveau Ministre Georges ALE.Dans son allocution, le Ministre sortant, Monsieur José TONATO, a exprimé sa gratitude au Président Patrice TALON et à l’ensemble des collaborateurs qui l’ont accompagné tout au long de son séjour à la tête dudit ministère. Il a également dressé le bilan des réformes et projets engagés durant sa mission républicaine dans ce département, notamment dans les domaines de l’assainissement urbain, de la gestion environnementale, de l’aménagement du territoire et de l’amélioration du cadre de vie des populations : « Je suis fier d'affirmer qu'aujourd'hui, le concept du cadre de vie est devenu un label béninois. Nous avons le devoir de le protéger, de le parfaire », a indiqué José TONATO. Le Ministre sortant a salué les efforts des équipes techniques et administratives du Ministère, tout en invitant son successeur à poursuivre les chantiers structurants engagés pour le développement durable du pays.Prenant officiellement fonction, Monsieur Georges ALE a rendu hommage au travail accompli par son prédécesseur et réaffirmé sa volonté de poursuivre la dynamique de modernisation et de transformation du secteur. Il a insisté sur la nécessité de consolider les acquis, de renforcer les actions environnementales et de promouvoir des politiques durables en faveur des générations futures. Le nouveau Ministre a également appelé à une mobilisation collective des cadres et agents du ministère afin de relever les défis liés à l’urbanisation, à la protection de l’environnement et à l’adaptation aux changements climatiques.La cérémonie s’est achevée par la signature des documents administratifs de passation et une photo de famille réunissant les différentes personnalités présentes.
