The Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs will host a conference at Harpa Concert Hall tomorrow, 2 June, to mark the publication of a report on Iceland’s currency options.

Prepared by a panel of international experts, the report examines the advantages and disadvantages of maintaining an independent currency compared with joining a larger currency area, such as the euro area. Its purpose is to provide a solid foundation for an informed national discussion on the future of Iceland’s monetary system.

The conference is open to all and free of charge.It will be streamed live and recorded.The recording will be published on the Ministry’s website as soon as possible after the event, with both Icelandic and English subtitles.

The conference will be conducted primarily in Icelandic. Programme items marked (EN) will be held in English.

Panel 2 (IS): Labour Markets and Competitiveness in a Changing Currency Environment

The conference will be moderated by Tinna Finnbogadóttir, Financial Counsellor at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, based at the Embassy of Iceland in Brussels.
