Appointment of the Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Mental Health Care Agency
The Office of the President has today announced the appointment of Ms Brigitte Gbilimou as the Chief Executive Officer of the Mental Health Care Agency.
Ms Gbilimou holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology, specialising in Clinical Psychology, from the University of New York in Prague, Czech Republic. She also holds an Honours Degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, South Africa.
Ms Gbilimou brings to the role professional experience in psychology, mental health services, leadership, and community engagement. Prior to her appointment she served as a Clinical Psychologist within the Ministry of Health, where she has played a key role in psychological assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, therapeutic care, and mental health programme development.
In addition to her clinical work, Ms. Gbilimou has demonstrated leadership and governance experience through her role as an elected member of the Health Professionals Council, where she serves as Head of the Sub-Committee for Education and Training. She has also led and contributed to national and departmental initiatives, including mental health promotion programmes and community outreach projects.
Her appointment takes effect 1st June 2026.
