Símbolos Nacional
The Constitution of the Republic determines, in its article 8, that the Flag, the Anthem and the National Arms are symbols of the Republic of Cape Verde and national sovereignty.
The National Flag is made up of five rectangles arranged lengthwise and overlapping.
– The upper and lower rectangles are blue, with the upper one occupying a surface equal to half of the flag and the lower one a quarter.
– Separating the two blue rectangles, there are three stripes, each with a surface equal to one twelfth of the area of the Flag.
– The bands adjacent to the blue rectangles are white and the one between them is red.
– On the five rectangles, ten five-pointed yellow stars, with the upper vertex at the ninety degree position, define a circle whose center is located at the intersection of the median of the second vertical quarter from the left with the median of the second horizontal quarter from the bottom edge. The star closest to this edge is inscribed in an invisible circle whose center is over the median of the lower blue band.
The Arms of the Republic of Cape Verde reflect a radial composition that presents, from the center to the periphery, the following elements:
– A blue equilateral triangle on which a white beam is inscribed;
– A circle limiting a space in which the words «REPÚBLICA DE CABO VERDE» are inscribed, starting from the left angle and up to the right of the triangle;
– Three blue straight segments parallel to the base of the triangle, limited by the first circle;
– A yellow plumb bob, aligned with the apex of the equilateral triangle, superimposed on the two circles in its upper part;
– Three yellow links occupying the base of the composition, followed by two green palms and ten yellow five-pointed stars arranged symmetrically in two groups of five.

A Bandeira Nacional é constituída por cinco retângulos dispostos no sentido do comprimento e sobrepostos. – Os retângulos superior e inferior são de cor azul, ocupando o superior uma superfície igual a metade da bandeira e o inferior um quarto. – Separando os dois retângulos azuis, existem três faixas, cada uma com a superfície igual a um duodécimo da área da Bandeira. – As faixas adjacentes aos retângulos azuis são de cor branca e a que fica entre estas é de cor vermelha. – Sobre os cinco retângulos, dez estrelas amarelas de cinco pontas, com o vértice superior na posição dos noventa graus, definem um círculo cujo centro se situa na intersecção da mediana do segundo quarto vertical a contar da esquerda com a mediana do segundo quarto horizontal a contar do bordo inferior. A estrela mais próxima deste bordo está inscrita numa circunferência invisível cujo centro fica sobre a mediana da faixa azul inferior. As Armas da República de Cabo Verde refletem uma composição radial que apresenta, do centro para a periferia, os seguintes elementos: – Um triângulo equilátero de cor azul sobre o qual se inscreve um facho de cor branca; – Uma circunferência limitando um espaço no qual se inscreve, a partir do ângulo esquerdo e até o direito do triângulo, as palavras «REPÚBLICA DE CABO VERDE»; – Três segmentos de reta de cor azul paralelos à base do triângulo, limitados pela primeira circunferência; – Um prumo de cor amarela, alinhado com o vértice do triângulo equilátero, sobreposto às duas circunferências na sua parte superior; – Três elos de cor amarela ocupando a base da composição, seguidos de duas palmas de cor verde e dez estrelas de cinco pontas de cor amarela dispostas simetricamente em dois grupos de cinco.
