Petro le cumplió a Sucre: palabras del mandatario

We wanted to start like this, first, to show what was done. Some newspaper in this region, which I know a lot, including its background, said today that Petro did not comply. Well, here we can see the fundamental proof to demonstrate the degree of compliance, in other places in Sincelejo and practically all the municipalities of Sucre and La Sabana, what we proposed and what we achieved.
I would have to say that I have never seen such an immense demonstration of this size. Rivers, multitudes that become rivers, rivers that become a torrent, torrents that will become a sea where Colombia will be great, beautiful and peaceful, shows us that we have achieved, that we have achieved achievements that are within the reach of whoever wants to see. There are those who do not want to see, there are those who have their hearts full of hate and hate does nothing but kill the heart.
Hatred must be removed immediately, because the heart must be filled with love and the brain with wisdom, to be able to successfully govern a society as complex as the Colombian one. He who is full of hatred and has no ideas in his brain because he preferred another destiny for his life, will not be able to govern these multitudes and crowds. He will not be able to govern Colombia because others will govern it, with the permission of the animal, male or female vampires.
What have we achieved? Today most of the population is middle class. And what does that mean? That millions and millions of men and women who were hungry before this government, who were excluded, who did not have education for their youth and did not even have enough for a bowl of soup, who did not have the right to a pension or to go to a university, who did not have the right to buy food for their son and daughter, all those millions and millions of people, men and women, young people and farmers and people from the city, have stopped being poor in this government of change.
That is the result, that is why they can no longer hide those figures, and they never will be able to. This is the only government that was able to lift most of the people out of poverty. It is the government of Gustavo Petro, which I hope can continue in its projects, in its ideas, in its social reality and advance further so that Colombia earns the title of being a fair, democratic and peaceful country.
We have emerged from immense massacres that occurred in these lands and that I myself denounced, we have or are emerging from a hundred years of loneliness. I said here to the boys and girls who interviewed me a while ago, that here is the root of Gabriel García Márquez, he was Márquez from a mother from Sucre and García from a father from Sucre. It was in the south of Sucre, where he grew up and from there he left for Aracataca and from there to other places in the center of the country and then to the world. And in Mexico he rose to the stars, as the most universal person that art and Colombian society have ever known. Here he learned sensitivity, and also in Colombia he learned what violence was, what pain was, what this eternal story was that seemed like that of One Hundred Years of Solitude, that of killing each other ourselves.
How to get out of there? We thought, how to end the hundred years of loneliness? Well, this is the way, the hundred years of loneliness end when all the old men and women have something to eat and smile and cherish the love of their loved ones in their last days, in the final phase. It is not the sadness of the old man that leads us to love each other, it is the joy of the old woman, the grandmother and the grandfather that leads us towards peace, and here we have achieved it. Three million elderly men and women throughout Colombia who had nothing to eat and only received alms, now receive enough to smile, to eat and to have a place where the love and smiles of their loved ones await them.
This is how you get out of a hundred years of loneliness, this is how you get out of violence. And we have achieved it by giving them money, half the minimum wage to a generally young woman, with children and abandoned by the cowardice of the man who made those children for her, perhaps alone in towns and villages, with hunger in the belly of the little child, desperate and doing what a woman wishes she would never have to do.
Today we can say that we have an achievement, and that it is a national achievement, a great victory for Colombia. We knew that she was going to convert this subsidy into food for her girl and her boy, and the bellies of the babies would not be hungry and we could completely lower the rate of malnutrition, mortality, and child malnutrition. That is to say, in Colombia fewer babies would die of hunger and today we can say it with certainty: we reduced the number of babies who died of hunger by half, different from what Mr. Duque reported.
How can we not be proud that a minimum wage worker today earns a living wage. How can we not be proud that the person who does not work, who had to sell red wines or empanadas to that same worker, who did not earn the living wage, today can have more income, because he has a more dignified job and because a living wage means neither more nor less that every family that has salaried people can eat just enough to avoid hunger. That is why statistics also show that in Colombia we reduced hunger substantially, that we are getting out of hunger.
The FAO has to say that Colombia is one of the countries that has made the most efforts in the world to lift the population out of hunger. Today the families of Colombia - I say it with pride - have more food than before. If they have a refrigerator, there is more food in the refrigerator; If there is no refrigerator there is more food in the kitchen. That's called living better, having more happiness at home, having a country that lives and feels better.
I could stay talking about the achievements of this government, but the problem that remains is where we are going. I cannot speak with my own names, the law prohibits me from doing so, but these achievements are the realities of a better life for the people. For the first time, a president of the people, born within the people, has governed under the mandate and order of the people themselves, because democracy is nothing more than a president who obeys the decisions, dreams and illusions of his people. That is democracy, power of the people so that it can continue, so that it can take deeper steps in the history of Colombia, and present better balances. In recent decades the Colombian people have decided whether to vote for life or vote for death, that is the history of Colombia.
Sometimes corruption itself, giving a ticket to the poorest people during elections, leads the poor to vote for their executioner. We have seen it in Sucre time and time again, I denounced it myself: governors who ordered massacres, who created the group that was going to murder the poor peasant, or the mayor who did not believe him much. This is how those who deserved the title of the Mocha Cabezas appeared, this is how my friend Eudaldo Díaz died, this is how we had to denounce during a government whose name I do not want to remember, how they entered the hamlets of Montes de María at night and in the early morning nothing but dead people were left.
And the people who bought the vote, the electorate did not realize that they were electing their vampire, the one who was going to draw blood from their own children. That story cannot return, because then we would not deserve either the help of God or the help of our own strength. We have to vote with transparency, vote for what our brain and heart make us believe, even if the belief is little. We cannot allow ourselves to be seduced by the temptations of demons who dress up as saints to kill their own people. It is easy to dress up as an animal or another person, it is easy to disguise yourself when election times come. We have seen it time and time again, but that is what the heart is for, the instinct. If you vote for the same people who had already killed before, rest assured that they will kill the people again.
The more people go out to vote, the more the people decide. The fewer people go out to vote, the more the mafia oligarchy of Colombia decides. The President of the Republic's invitation is that, if we want to continue this route - which we have already proven works -, we have to go out and vote by millions, by multitudes. Let no one stay at home, let the Colombian people decide. Secondly, if we want that decision to be fair, to be appropriate, to be the most convenient for our children, so that we do not choose our children's executioner, let us vote for what our hearts tell us, not for what the politician's wallet tells us. Do not believe in politicians, they will not lead you on a good path, they will go for what they want.
The heart will not let them make mistakes, and the brain even less so. The heart has to feel what the dream is for the next four years and the brain has to teach what the history was in this country, and why we should not repeat it if we want life to flourish in spring. That is the decision, I am not going to say who are those of death or who is of life because they are already trying to prosecute me once again, to see if they put Petro behind bars or keep him quiet. And Petro is not going to remain silent, although he is going to suggest the path: he is going to place a possibility in front of him, now that it is time to decide on Sunday and I don't know if after.
What I want is for you to vote with a free heart, without a ticket, a free heart to be richer in the years to come. And I want you to vote conscientiously, with your brain knowing history and not repeating history. He who repeats history will no longer have a tragedy, but a terrible comedy that will destroy us as a nation. We have already seen great Colombia, Colombia has been at the center of world decisions, Colombia has been invited to discussion centers of world power. The president has not knelt before anyone, the first thing he said to Donald Trump was "we are among equals, we may not understand each other's ideas, we may reach common agreements, but you are a Republican and Petro is a Democratic-Republican." And we look into each other's eyes.
Democrats do not kneel before anyone, those of us who think as democrats, sons and daughters of the liberator Bolívar, do not hand over the nation, which lives under a tricolor flag. And that tricolor flag has long been raised to say freedom and sovereignty until death. May our children live in freedom and sovereignty until death, so we will be able to teach the Americas that here is the land of the sun, that with the sun we will have energy and life, that in the land of the sun there is no vampire that remains in the day, vampire of those who suck the blood of human beings. With the sun we will have the possibility of rebuilding what Gran Colombia was and the power that we will be if all our youth study at a university, if all children and youth have the main part of the national budget, as they have today, so that our youth can build a better country than the one we have achieved until now. That's why education, that's why health care, whose reform is about to be carried out, after some gangsters stole the medicines, while financial intermediaries, in order to earn an extra bill, do not give the care they need to the sick. Reform that was left halfway in the Senate of the Republic, which is why I believe that it is absolutely fundamental if we want to sweep away corruption and carry out social reforms, we have to create a national constituent assembly, if the people decide to continue the path of transforming Colombia into the great country that we dream of.
We just dreamed of a town in front of us and driving. So, I will come here again after the elections to ask for the signature by the national constituent assembly so that the reforms are no longer promises, so that with the social reforms they do not extort us, because some congressmen believe they have the right to extort the people and extort the president. That doesn't work anymore. And that is why we must ensure that the constituent, who is none other than the people themselves, make the social reforms they need. I don't want to be re-elected, I don't like power, I'm not making an addition to the '91 constitution, I'm not interested. The thing is that the people need the pension reform, they need the labor reforms even more, they need the health reform and change the public services system, and ensure that the fertile land is delivered to the peasant family, so that Colombia is a powerhouse of food and therefore food is cheap, so that we do not have a boy or a girl with hunger in the stomach, because that would make us ashamed as a society.
We want greenery to be born again in the desert, for food to return to the large unproductive farms, for fish to return to the rivers and swamps, some of which have already been drained by the landowners. And may the nights once again be about dancing under the stars, may the male and female dancers try to reach them because that is what human beings are. And that we don't have to hide behind a door that has to be closed early because you don't know who is going to arrive dressed in black and with a machine gun on their belts.
That is why you have the floor today, friends of Sincelejo and Sucre. The decision to mark the future of Colombia remains with you, whether along the flowery paths of life or the sad paths of death. I will return here if the decisions are correct, taking the front row to make the people the true power of Colombia.

Algún diario de esta región, que conozco mucho, incluso sus antecedentes, dijo hoy que Petro no cumplió. Pues bien, aquí podemos ver la prueba fundamental para demostrar el grado de cumplimiento, en otros lugares de Sincelejo y prácticamente todos los municipios de Sucre y la Sabana, lo que nos proponíamos y lo que logramos. Yo tendría que decir que una inmensa manifestación así nunca la había visto de este porte. Ríos, multitudes que se convierten en ríos, ríos que se convierten en torrente, torrentes que se convertirán en un mar donde Colombia será grande, hermosa y pacífica, nos demuestra que sí hemos cumplido, que conseguimos logros que están al alcance de quien quiera ver. Hay quienes no quieren ver, hay quienes tienen su corazón lleno de odio y el odio no hace más que matar el corazón. El odio hay que quitarlo de inmediato, porque hay que llenar el corazón de amor y el cerebro de sabiduría, para poder gobernar con acierto una sociedad tan compleja como la colombiana. Aquel que esté lleno de odio y no tenga ideas en el cerebro porque prefirió otro destino para su vida, no podrá gobernar estas multitudes y estas multitudes. No podrá gobernar a Colombia porque lo gobernarán otros, con el permiso del animalito, vampiros o vampiras. ¿Qué hemos logrado? Hoy la mayor parte de la población es de la clase media. ¿Y eso qué significa? Que millones y millones de hombres y mujeres que tenían hambre antes de este gobierno, que eran excluidos, que no tenían educación para su juventud y no había para un plato de sopa siquiera, que no había el derecho a una pensión ni a ir a una universidad, que no había para comprar la comida para el hijo y la hija, todos esos millones y millones de personas, de hombres y de mujeres, de jóvenes y de campesinos y de gente de la ciudad, han dejado de ser pobres en este gobierno del cambio. Ese es el resultado, por eso ya no pueden ocultar esas cifras, y jamás podrán. Este es el único gobierno que fue capaz de sacar a la mayor parte de la gente de la pobreza. Es el gobierno de Gustavo Petro, que ojalá pueda prolongarse en sus proyectos, en sus ideas, en su realidad social y avanzar más para que Colombia se gane el título de ser un país justo, democrático y pacífico. Hemos salido de masacres inmensas que ocurrieron en estas tierras y que yo mismo denuncié, hemos o estamos saliendo de cien años de soledad. Decía aquí a los niños y a las niñas que me entrevistaron hace un rato, que aquí está la raíz de Gabriel García Márquez, era Márquez por una madre sucreña y García por un padre sucreño. Fue en el sur de Sucre, donde se crio y de ahí partió a Aracataca y de ahí a otros lugares del centro del país y después al mundo. Y en México se elevó hasta las estrellas, como la persona más universal que el arte y que la sociedad colombiana en su historia hayan conocido. Aquí aprendió la sensibilidad, y también en Colombia aprendió lo que era la violencia, lo que era el dolor, lo que era esta eterna historia que pareciera la de Cien años de soledad, la de matarnos entre nosotros mismos. ¿Cómo salir de ahí? Pensábamos, ¿cómo terminar los cien años de soledad? Pues es aquí el camino, los cien años de soledad terminan cuando todos los viejos y las viejas tengan con qué comer y sonreír y guardar amor de sus seres queridos en sus últimos días, en la fase final. No es la tristeza del viejo lo que nos lleva a querernos, es la alegría de la vieja, de la abuela y del abuelo lo que nos lleva hacia la paz, y aquí lo hemos logrado. Tres millones de ancianas y de ancianos en toda Colombia que no tenían con qué comer y sólo recibían una limosna, ahora reciben lo suficiente para sonreír, para comer y para tener un lugar donde les espere el amor y las sonrisas de sus seres queridos. Así se sale de cien años de soledad, así se sale de la violencia. Y lo hemos logrado entregándoles un dinero, medio salario mínimo a una mujer generalmente joven, con niños y abandonada por la cobardía del hombre que le hizo esos niños, quizá solitaria en pueblos y veredas, con el hambre en la barriga del niñito, desesperada y haciendo lo que una mujer ojalá nunca tuviera que hacer. Hoy podemos decir que tenemos un logro, y que es un logro nacional, una gran victoria de Colombia. Sabíamos que ese subsidio ella lo iba a convertir en comida para su niña y su niño, ya las barrigas de las crías no tendrían hambre y podríamos bajar por completo la tasa de desnutrición, de mortalidad, de desnutrición infantil. Es decir, que en Colombia menos bebés morirían de hambre y hoy lo podemos decir con certeza: bajamos a la mitad el número de bebés que morían de hambre, diferente a como lo entregó el señor Duque. Cómo no enorgullecernos de que una trabajadora o un trabajador de salario mínimo hoy se gane un salario vital. Cómo no vamos a enorgullecernos de que la persona que no trabaja, que tenía que venderle tintos o empanadas a ese mismo trabajador, que no ganaba el salario vital, hoy pueda tener más ingresos, porque tiene un trabajo más digno y porque un salario vital significa ni más ni menos que toda familia que tenga gente asalariada puede comer el mínimo suficiente para no aguantar hambre. Por eso la estadística también cuenta que en Colombia redujimos el hambre sustancialmente, que estamos saliendo del hambre. La FAO tiene que decir que Colombia es uno de los países que más esfuerzo ha hecho en el mundo para sacar la población del hambre. Hoy las familias de Colombia -lo digo con orgullo- tienen más comida que antes. Si tienen nevera, hay más comida en la nevera; si no hay nevera hay más comida en la cocina. Eso se llama vivir mejor, tener más felicidad en el hogar, tener un país que vive y siente mejor. Podría quedarme hablando de logros de este gobierno, pero el problema que sigue es para dónde vamos. No puedo hablar con nombres propios, la ley me lo prohíbe, pero estos logros son las realidades de un mejor vivir para el pueblo. Por primera vez un presidente del pueblo, nacido dentro del pueblo, ha gobernado bajo el mandato y la orden del pueblo mismo, porque la democracia no es más que un presidente que obedezca las decisiones, los sueños y las ilusiones de su pueblo. Eso es democracia, poder del pueblo para que pueda continuar, para que pueda dar pasos más hondos en la historia de Colombia, y presentar balances mejores. En los últimos lustros el pueblo colombiano ha decidido si vota por la vida o vota por la muerte, esa es la historia de Colombia. A veces la corrupción misma, el entregarle un billetico a la gente más pobre durante las elecciones, lleva al pobre a votar por su verdugo. Lo hemos visto en Sucre una y otra vez, yo mismo lo denuncié: gobernadores que ordenaban matanzas, que creaban el grupo que iba a asesinar al campesino pobre, o al alcalde que no le creía mucho. Así aparecieron los que merecieron el título de los Mochacabezas, así murió mi amigo Eudaldo Díaz, así tuvimos que denunciar durante un gobierno de cuyo nombre no quiero acordarme, cómo entraban de noche a los caseríos de Montes de María y ya en la madrugada no quedaban sino muertos. Y a la gente que le compraban el voto, el electorado no se daba cuenta de que estaba eligiendo a su vampiro, el que le iba a sacar la sangre a sus propios hijos. Esa historia no puede regresar, porque entonces no mereceríamos ni la ayuda de Dios ni la ayuda de nuestra propia fuerza. Tenemos que votar con transparencia, votar por lo que el cerebro y el corazón hace que creamos, así sea poca la creencia. No podemos dejarnos seducir por las tentaciones de demonios que se visten de santos para matar a su propio pueblo. Es fácil disfrazarse de animal o de otra persona, es fácil el disfraz cuando vienen las épocas electorales. Lo hemos visto una y otra vez, pero para eso está el corazón, el instinto. Si votan por los mismos que ya habían matado antes, tengan la seguridad de que volverán a matar al pueblo. Mientras más gente salga a votar, más decide el pueblo. Mientras menos gente salga a votar, más decide la oligarquía mafiosa de Colombia. La invitación del presidente de la República es a que, si queremos continuar esta ruta -que ya hemos probado que sirve-, tenemos que salir a votar por millones, por multitudes. Que nadie se quede en la casa, que el pueblo colombiano decida. En segundo lugar, si queremos que esa decisión sea justa, que sea la apropiada, que sea la más conveniente para nuestros hijos, para que no elijamos al verdugo de nuestros hijos, votemos por lo que nos diga el corazón, no por lo que nos diga la billetera del politiquero. No crean en politiqueros, no los llevarán por un buen camino, ellos irán por lo que quieren. El corazón no los dejará equivocar, y el cerebro menos. El corazón tiene que sentir cuál es el sueño que se siente para los próximos cuatro años y el cerebro tiene que enseñar cuál fue la historia que se tuvo en este país, y por qué no debemos repetirla si queremos que la vida florezca en primavera. Esa es la decisión, no voy a decir quiénes son los de la muerte ni quién es de la vida porque ya me intentan procesar una vez más, a ver si llevan a Petro entre rejas o lo callan. Y Petro no se va a callar, aunque sí va a insinuar el camino: va a colocar una posibilidad de frente, ahora que toca decidir el domingo y no sé si después. Yo lo que quiero es que ustedes voten con el corazón libre, sin billete, corazón libre para ser más ricos en los años por venir. Y quiero que voten a conciencia, con el cerebro sabiendo la historia y no repitiendo la historia. El que repite la historia ya no tendrá una tragedia, sino una terrible comedia que nos desbaratará como nación. Colombia grande ya lo hemos visto, Colombia ha estado en el centro de las decisiones mundiales, Colombia ha sido invitada a centros de discusión del poder del mundo. El presidente no se ha arrodillado ante nadie, lo primero que le dijo a Donald Trump fue “estamos entre iguales, puede que no nos entendamos en ideas, puede que lleguemos a acuerdos comunes, pero usted es un republicano y Petro es un republicano demócrata". Y nos miramos a los ojos. Los demócratas no se arrodillan ante nadie, los que pensamos como demócratas hijos e hijas del libertador Bolívar no entregamos la nación, que vive bajo una bandera tricolor. Y esa bandera tricolor hace tiempos se levanta para decir libertad y soberanía hasta la muerte. Que nuestros hijos hasta la muerte vivan en libertad y soberanía, así seremos capaces de enseñarle a las Américas que aquí es la tierra del sol, que con el sol tendremos energía y vida, que en la tierra del sol no hay vampiro que permanezca en el día, vampiro de los que chupan la sangre de los seres humanos. Tendremos con el sol la posibilidad de reconstruir lo que fue la Gran Colombia y la potencia que seremos si toda nuestra juventud estudia en una universidad, si toda la niñez y la juventud tienen lo principal del presupuesto nacional, como hoy lo tienen, para que nuestra juventud pueda construir un mejor país que el que hasta ahora hemos logrado. Por eso la educación, por eso la salud cuya reforma está por hacerse, después de que unos mafiosos se robaban los medicamentos, mientras unos intermediarios financieros por ganarse un billete adicional no dan la atención que necesita al enfermo. Reforma que quedó a medio camino en el Senado de la República, por lo cual creo que es absolutamente fundamental si queremos barrer la corrupción y hacer las reformas sociales, tenemos que hacer una asamblea nacional constituyente, si el pueblo decide continuar el camino de la transformación de Colombia en el país grande que soñamos. Justamente soñamos con un pueblo al frente y conduciendo. Entonces, yo vendré aquí otra vez después de elecciones a pedirles la firma por la asamblea nacional constituyente para que las reformas ya no sean promesas, para que con las reformas sociales no nos extorsionen, porque algunos congresistas se creen con el derecho de extorsionar al pueblo y extorsionar al presidente. Eso no va más. Y por eso hay que lograr que el constituyente, que no es otro que el pueblo mismo, haga las reformas sociales que necesita. Yo no me quiero reelegir, no me gusta el poder, yo no estoy haciendo un añadido a la constitución del 91, no me interesa. Es que el pueblo necesita la reforma pensional, necesita aún más las reformas laborales, necesita la reforma a la salud y cambiar el sistema de servicios públicos, y lograr que la tierra fértil sea entregada a la familia campesina, para que Colombia sea una potencia de la alimentación y por tanto los alimentos sean baratos, de modo que no tengamos un niño ni una niña con hambre en el estómago, porque eso nos haría avergonzar como sociedad. Queremos que el verde vuelva a nacer en el desierto, que el alimento vuelva a las grandes haciendas improductivas, que los peces vuelvan a estar en los ríos y en las ciénagas, algunas que ya las desecaron los terratenientes. Y que las noches vuelvan a ser de baile bajo las estrellas, que los danzarines y las danzarinas traten de alcanzarlas porque eso es el ser humano. Y que no tengamos que escondernos detrás de una puerta que hay que cerrar temprano porque uno no sabe quiénes van a llegar vestidos de negro y con metralleta al cinto. Por eso ustedes hoy tienen la palabra, amigas y amigos de Sincelejo y de Sucre. Queda en ustedes la decisión de marcar el futuro de Colombia, sea por los caminos florecidos de la vida, sea por los caminos tristes de la muerte. Aquí volveré si las decisiones son las correctas cogiendo la primera fila para hacer del pueblo el verdadero poder de Colombia. Que viva Colombia, país de la belleza. Que viva Colombia, corazón del mundo. Que viva Sucre y que viva Sincelejo.
