01 June 2026Ghana is working again- President Mahama announces.
President John Dramani Mahama has told Ghanaians living in the United Kingdom that Ghana’s economy is back on track and investor confidence is growing.
He has also assured them of deliberate policy initiatives to leverage the gains to facilitate Ghana’s transformation agenda after the successful completion of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) extended credit facility.
The President gave the assurance in his remarks at a London Town Hall meeting with Ghanaians living in the UK as part of his working visit to the UK. According to him, “the macro economy is stable, and all the indicators are looking very much in the right direction.”
He noted that the government had to take very painful decisions to reverse the bad performance inherited from the previous administration.
“But that is what life is about when you are ill, sometimes you have to take bitter medicine before you get better. And I’m happy to say that the sacrifices that Ghanaians made have paid off and Ghana is back on track again.”
The President told Ghanaians that many experts are surprised by how this feat was achieved, adding that Ghana has become the poster boy for economic recovery worldwide.
“When they go for the spring meetings of the World Bank and the IMF, everybody is pointing to the other African countries, to Ghana and say, go to Ghana and learn how we did it” he concluded
